Since 1994, COMMIT has been actively assisting Chinese
churches and local governments in
constructing self-sufficient orphan homes. We often
accommodate vocal and musical groups
and a number of
them have put on cultural exchange concerts, puppet shows, and western
dance
exhibitions while sharing openly with their hosts. Our teams have visited
orphan
homes, public
schools, adult care facilities and a number of churches while also helping
with the on-going needs of a special school for
children with Cerebral Palsy. Teams continue
to conduct open
air concerts and perform during in-church services at the invitation of
the government and we send teams almost every year to
teach English in public schools for
six or eight weeks at a time or up to one year by
arrangement. We have scheduled a number
of upcoming
trips that will enable you to see firsthand what the real China is all about.
You will be involved in a number of creative outreach
programs that are structured just for
you and your
team members among the Dong, Zhuang, Miao, Yao, and other minority
people groups
in the south. All of our trips allow each team member to gain a fuller
understanding
of what it means to be Chinese and a Christian in today’s China. We always
make time to do a bit of sightseeing and many teams
have taken a walk on the Great Wall,
visited the Emperor’s Tombs, Tiananmen Square, and
some have shared with tourists
and their tour
leaders at one of the largest temples in all of Southeast Asia. There are lots
of
opportunities built into each trip to share and many have never heard the Good
News!
